Hap Baldwin was born in 1926 in Opheim, Montana. Attended Opheim
schools and then entered the Army in 1944. He served 2 years in
the European Theater of Operations getting three battle stars
and a bronze star for service. Discharged in 1946.
Hap worked as a bartender, mechanic and many other jobs before settling
on a career in the electrical field.
He served 4 years as an electrician-lineman apprentice. After
graduation, Hap worked at several locations including an 8-month tour in
Saudi Arabia. He went to work for Bonneville Administration in 1971 and
retired after 20 years.
Joined the Masons in Opheim, Montana in 1958 dueled in Dallas Oregon in
1984 and have a life membership in Jennings Lodge #9. Joined the
Scottish Rite (Salem Valley) in 1969 and Al Kader in June of 1979 along
with J. B. Dick.
Hap has served at President of Polk County Shrine Club, President of
Marys Peak Trek and Commander of the Legion of Honor, was elected
Recorder of Al Kader in 2008 and is still serving in that office. He is
also a member of Polk County Shrine Club, Salem Shrine Club, Santiam
Shrine Club, Desert Patrol and Shurtah.
Hap married his lady Patti in 1954; they have three children (one son
and two daughters) and 6 grandchildren (one granddaughter and 5
